As we get close to releasing the next set of Admissions decisions, we’re sharing some of the joyful moments from when this year’s class found out they were accepted to HGSE!

I was getting ready to leave the office on a Friday just before 5pm to go to a staff happy hour with my co-workers. When I saw the email from HGSE, I could barely read it- I just remember seeing “Congratulations” and lots of confetti! The first person I saw after opening the email was my boss, who is also a HGSE alum. It was such a great moment to share with him. It got even better when we got to toast with champagne at the happy hour we were headed to!

After a long day of processing applications myself (I was an Admissions Director previous to HGSE), I was checking my personal email at the office before heading home. Much to my surprise, I saw the email from HGSE that there was an update to my application. I was accepted to Harvard! No one was in the office other than my manager (the most inspiring woman ever who also happens to be my mentor) and we embraced with hugs and tears. My husband picked me up from work with my favorite treats to celebrate.

I had been in admissions committees all day making decisions on the next incoming class at the university I was working at when I saw an email from HGSE pop up on my computer. While I had recently heard back from other graduate programs I had applied to, I was anxiously awaiting HGSE’s decision as it was my top choice. When I opened the email and saw the word “Congratulations!”, I remember being initially in shock and then super excited. I also thought it was somewhat poetic that I found out my admissions decision on a day I was part of a committee making admissions decisions for the university I was working for. I then immediately called my parents to let them know the good news!
