“I am obsessed with my Negotiations Workshop class. The professors are really approachable and are so skilled at what they do. I’ve learned skills that I can apply to every aspect of my life. I’ve been able to explore concepts related to power, race, sex, difficult conversations, and difficult tactics. This has been one of the highlights of my semester.”

“H327 Individual counseling (Jackie Zeller/Josephine Kim)- it’s given me practical skills to use during my practicum, and the class lectures and assignments are engaging and hands on.”- Naj Turner, Prevention Science and Practice

“One of my favorite classes from this past semester was Negotiations. It really wasn’t a class focused on how to get the best salary or what you want from a deal. The class made me reflect so much on my identity, other people’s identities, power dynamics, privilege, and equity/equality. It was honestly a sociology class that fed my soul.” – Jenni Myung, International Education Policy

“It’s too hard to choose. All of my courses added such richness to my experience in such different ways, making it impossible to compare them. I took classes in three departments and they were all amazing, challenging and shaping. – Courtney Tee, Specialized Study Program

Learning the tenets of CRT (permanence of racism, critiques of liberalism, interest convergence, counter-storytelling, intersectionality, etc) have really shown me that my own experience with race, especially as a multiracial person, IS theory. Counter-storytelling by people of color and experiential knowledge are two really powerful tenets that spoke to me regarding my own experience as being important and valid.”- Maddie Alvendia, Learning and Teaching

“Our Proseminar course with Judy McLaughlin. As someone interested in the ways institutions of higher education function as organizations, it was fascinating to learn how the different components of these organizations fit and interacted together. In addition, the President in Residence Gloria Larson was an amazing resource throughout the semester.”- Andrew Marshall, Higher Education

“Much to my surprise, I’ve really enjoyed “Microeconomics: A Policy Tool for Educators.” This is a very different lens from how I have approached education access prior to starting my Master’s degree with IEP, so I am glad to be able to understand the push and pull of supply and demand and how those forces influence taxation and education access issues. I’m considering taking an additional course next semester to further my knowledge.”- Charlotte Evans, International Education Policy

“A021 Leadership in Social Change Organizations with Karen Mapp. The class felt the most like an organic learning community, and I appreciated the opportunities to collaborate and get to know my classmates as we discussed professional challenges that accompany organizational leadership.” –Amy Jiravisitcul, Education Policy and Management

“My favorite class this semester was Jack Shonkoff’s Science-Driven Innovation in the Early Childhood Ecosystem. Throughout this course, we have discussed how advances in biology can be leveraged to promote effective strategies to strengthen the foundations of health child development. This course has opened me up to an array of opportunities that align with my personal and professional goals and interests.” – Anonymous
